EUReKA! Science Program is a non-profit student run organization based out of Thompson Rivers University. The program offers workshops, summer camps and community events aimed at elementary school children. Topics cover engineering, human biology and chemistry. The EUReKA! Science Program is a proud network member of Actua, a national network of like-minded programs. Actua provides training, resources and support to its national network of members located at universities and colleges across Canada in the delivery of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education outreach programming.
Girl Guides – Girls in STEM program provides girls ages 5-17 an opportunity for hands on experience in STEM. Girls can experiment, design, create and imagine as they explore the infinite possibilities of what they can achieve in the world of science, technology, engineering and math. Girls are exposed to engineering through meetings, camps, conferences and workshops. The program also provides support and connections to women mentors in the field.

Girls and Steam Science is a Science World program aimed at girls 11-13 interested in all things science, technology, engineering, art and design, and math (STEAM). Girls and STEAM puts on events that includes workshops and speakers. Events include the Girls and STEAM Community Showcase which is open to the public and features eye-popping science shows, table-top demonstrations and opportunities to connect with role models and mentors to explore science careers and the cool science happening right here in our community.

Science AL!VE provides opportunities to explore science beyond the textbooks through hands-on, interactive discovery workshops, camps, clubs and events for youth across BC. Scientists and Innovators in Schools (SIS) is a volunteer-based program that helps address British Columbia’s need for more scientists, engineers, technologists, technicians, creative technology professionals and innovators to promote students’ interest in these areas. SIS’ goal is to inspire students (Grades K–12) with exciting, in-school presentations by career mentors across BC.

CAGIS is a national organization with chapters in Vancouver and Victoria BC. They hold monthly events to provide hands on activities and insights to girls aged 7-16 years about STEM careers. CAGIS Virtual is a new program that offers weekly, hands-on, live STEM sessions led by real experts. Volunteering opportunities are available to help run virtual activities or host a virtual session in area of expertise.

UBC Geering Up Engineering Outreach is a non-profit organization with the mandate of promoting science, engineering, and technology to youth (grades K-12) across British Columbia. Affiliated with the University of British Columbia, Geering Up is designed, organized and operated by UBC students to provide school workshops, camps, clubs and events. They strive to reach all children and youth, regardless of gender, ethnicity, culture or socio-economic status, with special outreach for those groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences. UVic’s Science Venture is a non-profit organization that offers hands-on, minds-on science, engineering and technology learning opportunities for youth entering grades 1 through 12. Science Venture delivers innovative science, technology, engineering, and math programming to Vancouver Island youth, 5-18 years of age. Programming includes workshops, after school clubs, summer camps, and events – all designed to stimulate the interest and passion for these subject areas.
University of Victoria’s Indigenous STEM program is a reciprocal partnership between Indigenous communities and groups and the University of Victoria’s Office of Indigenous Academic and Community Engagement (IACE), Faculties of Science & Engineering, and Science Venture, to address the gap in scientific literacy by engaging Indigenous youth in STEM and encouraging them to pursue these fields as a career choice. Working with organizations and friendship centres, the Program offers school science clubs, spring/summer break camps, and events in various Indigenous communities.

WWest’s mission is to engage industry, the community and students to increase the awareness and participation of women and other under-represented groups in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields of study and careers. WWEST works regionally and nationally on policy, research, advocacy, facilitation, and pilot programs that support women in science and engineering.
